Muslim women are not fully dressed until they have covered their heads with a hijab. The Arabic term “Hajaba,” from which we get the English word “hijab,” meaning “to hide or conceal,” and it is from this word that we get the word “hijab.” According to the Islamic concept of hijab, the garment that conceals everything that can awaken impulses is called a hijaab. There is much more to the hijaab than just covering one’s body; rather, it refers to a rule of modesty that is outlined in the wonderful Quran and is led by Allah Almighty

“O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Al-Ahzaab, 33:59)

It protects the lady not just in her community but also in every other setting she visits. One thing that is essential for the hijab is that the manner it is worn must not appeal to other people. Only in this way can the true aim of the hijaab be achieved.

The hijab is essentially the clothing code recommended for Muslim women, and it is also one of Allah’s mandates. In verse number 31 of the Surah Nur, it is clear that Muslim women are expected to maintain their modesty and keep their looks down at all times. This ayah also sheds light on the relevance of the hijab in the daily life of a Muslimah.

“And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof;….” (Surah Nur, 24:31)

According to the mandates of Allah, the Highest, women are required to cover their hair and wear a headscarf at all times. The message was sent to the Muslim women by Allah Most High via His messenger, the Holy Prophet (PBUH), in the Holy Quran.
